Accessibility Statement for Ecademi (ecademi.co)

Last updated: 16 August 2025

Ecademi is committed to ensuring our digital services are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website, web applications, documents, and media and, in doing so, aim to adhere to relevant standards and legislation in the United Kingdom.

Our commitment and legal framework

We design, build and maintain our digital services with regard to the following UK laws, standards and guidance:

Equality Act 2010 – we take reasonable steps to avoid discrimination and to make reasonable adjustments for disabled users.Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 – while we are a private organisation and these regulations formally apply to public sector bodies, we align our approach to the regulations and the accompanying Government guidance as good practice.WCAG – we aim for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a baseline and are progressively working towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA.ISO 30071‑1:2019 (Digital accessibility) – used as management guidance for embedding accessibility into our processes (successor to BS 8878).

Standards we use

We strive to:

Use semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate, and maintain logical heading and tab order.Ensure sufficient colour contrast and resizable text without loss of content or functionality.Provide keyboard-accessible navigation and controls, visible focus states, and skip‑to‑content links.Provide alternative text for meaningful images and transcripts/captions for time‑based media.Avoid sensory characteristics alone (colour, shape, location) to convey meaning.Ensure forms have labels, instructions, error identification, and accessible validation.Avoid content that flashes more than three times per second.Support responsive layouts and reflow without horizontal scrolling at 320px CSS width.

How accessible this website is

Many parts of our site are fully accessible. We know some content may still present issues, especially where we integrate third‑party widgets or legacy documents. We are working to resolve the following known limitations:

Some PDF or Office documents created before 2025 may not be fully tagged for accessibility.Third‑party embedded components (for example, video players, maps, or scheduling/checkout widgets) may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA.Occasional link text may be non‑descriptive in legacy posts. If you encounter issues not listed here, please contact us (details below).

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Conducting periodic accessibility reviews and manual audits against WCAG 2.1 AA.Building accessibility checks into design/development workflows (design system tokens, component‑level testing).Remediating legacy documents and media on a rolling basis, prioritising high‑usage content.Training staff and suppliers on accessible content creation.Selecting third‑party providers with documented accessibility roadmaps.
Where fixing an issue would place a disproportionate burden on Ecademi (for example, remediating large archives of rarely used documents), we will document the assessment, provide accessible alternatives on request, and address the issue when content is next updated.
