ABOUT PROFESSOR DAVID WILSON
In a career spanning 40 years, Professor David Wilson has worked with a range of violent men, often men who have committed murder, sometimes even serial murder. He is the author of more than 25 books and often appears in both the print and broadcast media as a presenter and commentator. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to education, Professor David Wilson received a National Teaching Fellowship in 2012 and more recently, his documentary “An Interview with a Murderer” received a prestigious National Television Award.

Emeritus Professor David Wilson
David Wilson is Professor Emeritus of Criminology and founding Director of the Centre for Applied Criminology at Birmingham City University, one of its research centres of excellence. He is the former Editor of the Howard Journal of Criminal Justice. Before his academic appointment in 1997, David was Senior Policy Advisor to the Prison Reform Trust and worked as a Prison Governor from 1983 to 1997. He has advised on police investigations and trained Senior Investigating Officers. His research interests include British serial murder, family annihilation, hitmen, lethal violence in organized crime, prison history, and penal reform. The author of 20 books, David frequently appears in the media. His 2017 Channel 4 documentary, "Interview with a Murderer," won Broadcast and Royal Television Society Awards.
Professor Gwen Adshead
Dr. Gwen Adshead is a world-renowned forensic psychiatrist and psychotherapist. She worked at Broadmoor Hospital from 1996, focusing on understanding the psychological mechanisms behind violence. Professor Adshead, who qualified in medicine in 1983, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds degrees in medical law, ethics, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Awarded the Jochelson visiting professorship at Yale and the President’s Medal for ethics in mental health, she has over 20 years of NHS practice. She founded Mindfulness for Doctors to build resilience among physicians. A prolific author, she has penned over 100 academic papers and co-edited several influential books. Regularly featured in media, she is an esteemed speaker at international conferences, contributing significantly to the fields of forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy.
Dr Julia Shaw
Dr Julia Shaw is a psychological scientist at University College London best known for her work in the areas of false memory and criminal psychology. She is the author of multiple best-selling books and a BBC science communicator. Dr Shaw has done extensive research on memory in legal contexts. She is an expert assessor for the Netherlands Register of Court Experts (NRGD) which is part of the Dutch Ministry of Justice. She also works regularly as an expert witness, on the issue of false memory.In 2016 she published her bestselling debut book The Memory Illusion: Remembering, forgetting, and the science of false memory, which has appeared in more than 20 languages.
